Chalom.

Sacred Storytelling and the Rebirth of Divine Dreams.

“For God speaks again and again, though people do not recognize it. He speaks in dreams, in visions of the night, when deep sleep falls on people as they lie in their beds”

— Job 33:14-15

Lead Artist/Curator

Dreams have be essential to my work since I was 16. Dreams are a conversion space for me and God. Sanctified and made sacred, a place where Gods voice whispers in images and symbols; reveals plans and guides the work of my hands. It's a sanctuary where I can connect with the spirit without the mind getting in the way, where my soul is nourished, and where I find inspiration to play and work according to the direction of the Lord.

For Years my dreamscapes where tormented places - plagued by fear, darkness and birthing only restless nights of insomnia. My testimony and relationship to Christ is directly tied to a series of dreams. My relationship with my mentor was formed over our mutual love of illustrating our dreams and the place I found my heart softened was in the intimate walking of people through how to begin to interpret their dreams through scripture. Without realizing it this is the genesis of the CHALOM project.

I realized this offering of conversation around dreams was the fulfillment of several qualms I have with contemporary culture. They are as follows; the lack of truth in the spiritual; the death of long form conversation; and the division of community [especially generationally within the church].

I believe some of the Hope that needs to be passed to the next generations rests in reigniting the truth, beauty and mystery nested within the sublime. This call to something more than the self. The belief that there is a greater fabric we are all play an important part in. The story of the prohetes, visionaries and dreams is not dead. Hope is alive and well within us.

Why Chalom

Fostering Dialogue

We can not overlook the universality of dreams. They are a gift and a promised space from divine, time and time again we are shown God communicating through dreams (Matthew 2:13). Featuring young participants from diverse christian backgrounds we believe this exhibition opens a dialogue about faith and the divine between peers in a way fading from the traditional church body. We are seeking to open the opportunity for young people to communicate their questions, fears, and curiosity to their elders and greater community through a return to the sacredness dreams.

The Youth is leaving the church and we need to address it. The death of conversation, questioning, and community is a greater issue than we realize.

Empowering Young Artists and Photographers

The project provides a platform to speak about dreams encouraged by a young peer group of artists in faith, It instigates exploring their faith, questions and spiritual experiences through an approachable but honoring artistic lens.

The future of faith in in the hands of the youth - the future of culture is in the hands of the artists.

Strengthening Community and Faith

The exhibition creates a space for reflection and discussion about faith and the divine, intended to cultivate a sense of community among those who feel ostracized by the church or conventional watered down spirituality. By exploring how dreams can be a place to converse with God intimately, the project encourages individual faith and connection to the divine from aspect of ones spiritual walk greatly over looked.

We have forgotten the truth in beauty, play, and the creative act. We first meet God as a creator/and artist in scripture. Lets be true IMAGO DEI.

Investment in the Future of Spiritual Art

This project serves as a model for future artistic endeavors fostering faith dialogue and exploring what it mean to become a channel for something more than the self. This exhibition is an investment in my personal passion related to the rebirth of the sublime. I believe these Artist's work at this stage invests in a future where ‘art as a vessel of the divine’ is encouraged and we return to something outside the ego, something that inspires awe and wonder through what is 'true, beautiful, and hope filled’.

We have a responsibility to steward truth, beauty, and hope - show the world that you trust and believe that there is something beautiful to run after.

“Dreams are today's answers to tomorrow's questions.”
